PROGRESSIVE RECYCLING SINCE 1891

The Joseph Freedman Company, Inc., was founded in 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts by Joseph Freedman, great grandfather of the current company president, John D. Freedman. Fulfilling an important need for American industry, the company built a reputation for being one of the pioneering leaders in industrial scrap metal recycling, specializing in aluminum, copper, nickel alloys and aircraft scrap. From horse and wagon to today's radio/cellular dispatched vehicles, from hand selection and separation to today's highly sophisticated on-site analytical testing equipment, we are one of the oldest and largest family owned and operated scrap metal recycling facilities in the Northeast.

The Joseph Freedman Co. operates two Springfield, Massachusetts facilities on over 20 acres. Our 120,000 sq. ft. indoor ferrous facility and headquarters on Stevens Street (below left), and our 60,000 sq. ft. chopping operation on Albany Street (below right), maintain strict quality, security, and environmental controls. We provide services to the New England area.
